The 2000’s
The building failures of the 80’s and 90’s were becoming more apparent and as a result of the Hunn report and the subsequent 2004 NZ Building Act, design and building methods needed to change. But to was slow to be adopted and the early failures continued to be seen.
The new building regulations and planning rules did slowly change the way we designed and built, but this lead to a lot of resistance and misunderstanding of just what was needed.
There were however still lots of opportunities to be creative.
The following projects are those I was personally involved in while a Director of Chaplin Crooks Architects.
